You will have to forgive me for maybe getting a little carried away with this blog post of Liz & Danny’s Wedding . It was a day so full of love and celebration with lots of special memories to capture!
Liz & Danny are a Liverpool couple introduced to me by a fellow wedding photographer. Thank-you to Mel for such a great referral to this lovely pair, an absolute pleasure to spend time with. When first hearing Liz’s excitement describing their wedding day, perfectly planned with a vintage chic theme, I knew it would be one very special day and how very true that is. From arriving to the warmest of welcomes at Liz & Danny’s home in the morning, until leaving as the last light faded away, I enjoyed every moment.
The day started seeing Liz at home with her ‘besties’ who were also her bridesmaids, a role they were lovingly devoted to. Everything was incredibly organised with lots of smiles and excitement as they all started to prepare for the day. The gorgeous choice of bridal wear was beautifully complimented by the flowers by Norwegian Wood Florists.
Ahead of the girls final preparations there was also time to visit Danny getting ready at his grandparents home with his proud Mum looking on. What a fabulous bond between Danny and his best man, also his best friend and brother – there were lots of hugs between them all day long.
Back with Liz, her excitement was infectious as her Mum and maids, now ready themselves, helped her into her dress….
And then it was time to move on ready for the ceremony at St Pauls Church in West Derby where Danny nervously waited for his bride’s arrival. Father Mark led an amazing service, celebrated by all the congregation with heartfelt singing and prayers, really beautiful.
Although the rain which had threatened all day arrived with a vengeance as the service ended, we managed a couple of sheltered images of the newlyweds before making a dash for their vintage wedding car to take them to Leverhulme Hotel in Port Sunlight for their reception.
The venue was wonderfully styled for the occasion much inspired by one of the venue’s features, a bird cage pergola, together with a play on Liz’s new married name ‘Bette Davis’. Do you recognise the film names? The cake was also a work of art and I am sure crafted with lots of love!
With the weather not improving we decided upon some indoor group and couple photography before the wedding breakfast but the sun did make a breakthrough allowing for much more later on…..
There was not a dry eye around through the speeches, the words clearly meaning so much to everybody, delivered fondly and with humour by Liz’s Dad, Danny and his best man.
Afterwards we wasted no time in taking advantage of a break in the weather to capture some shots in the venue grounds. Everyone was cheery for the group shots and I love the out-take of these mischievous Dads response to Liz asking for a shot just with their Mums. Bridesmaid Alaine deserves a special mention too – in all the group shots she was not involved in herself she crouched down out of sight behind Liz holding her train up from the wet ground. What a star!
Swiftly onto cake cutting and dancing. Liz’s Dad had spoken of Liz’s childhood dancing and it was the two of them who kicked off proceedings with a lively choreographed sequence before she and Danny took to the floor for their first dance. With everyone else at the ready with their dancing feet, it didn’t take long for the dance floor to fill.
After their first dance it was lovely to end the day photographing Liz & Danny with the backdrop of ‘the birdcage’ just one of Leverhulme Hotel’s lovely features. Liz & Danny’s kindness and fabulous feedback about their images makes me smile a lot and I imagine that’s the effect they have on everyone around them all the time. Wishing you guys a lifetime filled with happiness and everything you dream for! xx
With thanks to Amanda Balmain my fabulous second photographer for the day and also to Lee Price Productions for being a great videography team to work with. I just watched your trailer from the wedding, it reflects the emotions and day beautifully x
