Love York, love winter light, love this pair! I headed north for this York pre-wedding photography session on a weekend when the weather forecast threatened snow blizzards and freezing temperatures. Luckily for us, although it was very cold, the snow had disappeared and it was beautifully sunny when we met. Perfect timing!
When winter gifts us with a crisp bright day it becomes one of my favourite times for photography. With the sun lower in the sky, the sunlight is softer giving a warm glow which during summer we have to wait for until nearer sunset. These images were captured early in the afternoon around Museum Gardens, a beautiful haven within the small but bustling city. I really enjoyed the varied backdrops of the ancient St Mary’s Abbey ruins alongside some modern architecture. So different but so in harmony in their setting.
I get to return to York for Sam & Hugo’s wedding in late Spring. I just might have to extend my stay to take in the city’s charm and have a mooch around The Shambles for some retail therapy. What a great weekend to look forward to! x
