Kelly & Mitch told me that they chose a Christmas-time wedding as it is their favourite time of year, all about family, friends and togetherness. And that is exactly how their day was, full of their love for each other and their guests ,combined with a little bit of Christmas sparkle.
Their wedding day was 23rd December and none of us expected the exceptionally mild and fabulously bright weather providing glorious light both before, during and even after their 3pm ceremony! If outdoors photography is preferred I usually recommend an earlier ceremony time to couples choosing a winter wedding. Although outdoors was always Kelly & Mitch’s first choice they were fully prepared for all their couple and group imagery to be created indoors. On the day though the weather gods were very kind to us and with some fast work and selective location choice we were able to take advantage of the last of the daylight within Dodford Manor’s sheltered courtyard grounds.
As well as the wonderful winter light there were so many other things I enjoyed about this wedding day…
Kelly has to be the most organised bride ever from planning the day to the last detail on the day itself. Being ready in plenty of time also meant that we were able to capture some bridal portraits and fun times with her bridesmaids ahead of the ceremony.
Meeting their gorgeous labrador!
There was Christmas sparkle but the day felt very much first and foremost Kelly & Mitch’s wedding day. They added personal styling and chose a menu very different from the traditional roast many would enjoy a couple of days later.
Look out for the tree slices, the most beautiful I have seen! When swooning about them with the couple afterwards they told me that together with their family they made them by themselves, cutting the tree trunk, planing, sanding and polishing them. A perfect example of DIY decor!
Guests were wonderfully engaged in their wedding during the day.The couple were making time to chat with everyone and provided great entertainment including surprise singing waiters. Guests were all clearly blown away by the day, confirmed again with all the lovely comments when they shared their photographs.
I could go on but for now I’ll let the images tell the rest of the story…
Lovely couple, lovely wedding and a great start to Christmas for everyone. If you are considering a Christmas-time wedding just like every other time of year Dodford Manor is a great venue choice!
PS Did you spot that Kelly had two wedding dresses? One for the day and one for dancing. Brilliant!
